Eldkvarn, Steam-powered gristmill in central Stockholm, Sweden.
The Eldkvarn mill stood near the waterfront, utilizing steam power technology for grain processing with machinery designed by Samuel Owen in 1805.
Abraham Niclas Edelcrantz, a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences, commissioned the construction of Eldkvarn as part of Stockholm's industrial advancement.
The mill remained operational until 1878 when a substantial fire, starting from a fallen gas lamp, illuminated the Stockholm night sky.
The former location of Eldkvarn now serves as the site of Stockholm City Hall, marking a transition from industrial to governmental purposes.
The mill continued partial operations even after the major fire of 1878, processing grain until its complete closure in 1906.
