Golden Hall, Reception hall in Stockholm City Hall, Sweden

The Golden Hall is a reception room in Stockholm City Hall featuring walls adorned with glass and gold mosaics depicting Swedish historical scenes and the city's landmarks. The space extends approximately 44 meters in length, creating an impressive setting for formal gatherings.

The hall received its distinctive appearance between 1917 and 1923 when artist Einar Forseth created extensive mosaics funded by an anonymous donation. This artistic transformation shaped the remarkable space visitors encounter today.

The hall serves as the venue for the annual Nobel Ball, held each December as a grand celebration welcoming prize winners, royal family members, and prominent guests. This prestigious event has become deeply connected to Sweden's identity and global recognition.

Access to this hall is only possible through guided tours, offered daily from May through September in English and Swedish. The tours provide a comprehensive introduction to this impressive space and its details.

The northern wall depicts the Queen of Lake Mälaren holding Stockholm in her arms, a poetic representation. The southern wall contains approximately 18 million gold mosaic tiles forming cityscape scenes in remarkable detail.
