Istanbul Aviation Museum, Military aviation museum in Yeşilköy, Istanbul, Turkey.
Istanbul Aviation Museum is an aviation museum in Yeşilköy that houses eight exhibition halls displaying roughly 43 aircraft from different eras. The collection includes fighter jets and transport planes, many of which can be examined outdoors.
The museum began as a collection of German aircraft from World War I and was established at its current location in 1983. Before that, the collection had been housed at a different site in Izmir.
The museum shows how aviation shaped Turkey's military identity through uniforms, medals, and photographs on display. These objects tell the story of pilots and engineers who worked to build the nation's air capabilities.
The museum is located behind Yeşilköy Railway Station and is open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Weekend hours extend until 5:30 PM.
The outdoor area lets visitors get up close to full-sized retired military aircraft such as the F-4E Phantom II and F-86F Sabre. These planes served for decades and show the leap in aircraft technology over time.
