Belgrad Forest is a mixed woodland covering about 5,500 hectares north of Istanbul, home to oak trees, diverse plant species, and various wildlife. An extensive network of paths and facilities runs throughout the area to serve visitors with different interests.
The name comes from Serbian settlers who were relocated to Constantinople following the Ottoman capture of Belgrade in 1521. This historical connection gave the forest area its lasting name.
