Neşet Suyu Nature Park, Nature park in Bahçeköy, Turkey
Neşet Suyu Nature Park is a nature park located within the Belgrad Forest near Istanbul, spanning roughly 67 hectares across wooded terrain. A walking trail of about 6 kilometers circles a lake, offering visitors opportunities for hiking and outdoor activities.
The park was established in 2011 and named after Professor Neşet Bey, who taught at Istanbul University's Forestry Faculty and served as its rector until 1924. The naming honors his influence on forestry and education in the region.
Two heritage structures stand within the grounds: a historic cistern and an open-air prayer area marked by a mihrab. These protected sites reflect the spiritual and practical uses of the land over time.
Entry is free for all visitors, but you should bring your own food and grilling supplies since food options on the grounds are minimal. Wear comfortable shoes and pack plenty of water, especially on warmer days.
In the early 2000s, the park underwent soil rehabilitation and closed its picnic areas temporarily. This action was needed to address ground compaction that was harming tree root growth.
