Taipei Main Public Library, Public library in Daan District, Taiwan.
Taipei Main Public Library is a public library on Jianguo South Road in the Daan District of Taipei, Taiwan, with books, magazines, and multimedia materials spread across multiple floors. The building has eleven floors, each organized around different reading areas and study sections.
The library was founded in 1952 and originally operated from a different location in the city before moving to its current building in 1990. That move placed it at the center of Taipei's public library network.
The library has an American Corner, a dedicated area with English-language materials and information about American culture, open to anyone who walks in. Next to it, an Information Center for Study Abroad helps visitors who are thinking about studying outside Taiwan.
The library is close to Daan Forest Park, which makes it easy to combine with other stops in the neighborhood. Elevators can get crowded during peak hours, so visiting on a weekday or earlier in the day tends to be more comfortable.
The eleventh floor is home to the Active Learning Demonstration Center, a space designed specifically for older adults rather than students or general visitors. It offers programs and materials aimed at seniors, which is an unusual focus for a large city library.
