Lutao Kaiji Beiji Temple, Chinese temple in Yujing District, Taiwan.
Lutao Kaiji Beiji Temple is a Chinese temple in Yujing with elaborate interior details and traditional elements. The walls display 18 officials riding mythical beasts, while Qing period woodwork decorates the spaces throughout.
This temple was founded in 1670 as a smaller version of an earlier Xuan Wu temple established five years before. Its creation followed the need for an additional worship site devoted to this deity.
The temple displays artworks throughout showing Xuan Wu, a high-ranking Taoist deity associated with fire protection. Visitors encounter these representations in the decorations and paintings that shape the site's spiritual character.
The temple sits in an alley beside Chikan Lou, reached by following the road with yellow lanterns from the parking area. The eastern path is well marked and leads directly to the entrance.
The original temple structure was relocated to make room for a school that now stands in front of the building. This move shows how religious sites adapted to changing community needs over time.
