甲仙攔河堰

The Jiaxian Weir is a water control structure across the Chishan River with multiple gates and a concrete overflow section that manages flow. The facility diverts water from Chishan Creek into the Nanhua Reservoir and distributes it through channels for irrigation across the surrounding area.

The weir was built between 1994 and 1999 as a response to regional water management needs in southern Taiwan. Following the 2009 typhoon that caused an upstream landslide, the damaged structure underwent complete reconstruction in 2010.

The dam supports local farming communities through irrigation systems and water management, forming an integral part of regional agricultural practices.

The site sits in an agricultural area and is easily visible from nearby roads and footpaths. The structure is most impressive during the rainy season when water flow increases noticeably.

The weir was completely rebuilt after a natural disaster, showcasing engineering solutions for managing extreme water events in the region. The reconstruction incorporated new approaches to make it more resilient against future typhoons and landslides.
