The area grew from the Tunworth estate granted in 957 to a local leader named Lyfing, eventually becoming known as Chingesberie. This medieval name meant the king's manor, showing how the place was valued in those times.
St. Andrew's Church dates from the 12th century and marks where the original settlement once stood. Walking around the church, you can sense the older roots of this area beneath the modern neighborhoods.
Kingsbury connects to central London through Kingsbury Underground station on the Jubilee line for easy access. Most shops and services cluster in the western part, so you will find them more easily there than elsewhere.
Architect Ernest Trobridge designed buildings here between 1915 and 1942 using experimental materials and castle-like shapes. These unusual structures stand out sharply from the ordinary houses around them and puzzle many passing visitors.
