La Vega, Venezuelan parish in Libertador Municipality, Caracas.
La Vega is a parish in central Caracas situated at 903 meters elevation, spanning roughly 13 square kilometers and bordered by the neighborhoods of El Paraíso, Antímano, and Santa Rosalía. It contains schools and universities, including Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, alongside sports facilities such as the Teo Capriles Velodrome.
The settlement began as a housing area for workers at Hacienda Montalbán sugar cane plantation and received its formal name Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Chiquinquirá de la Vega in 1813. Industrial activity took hold in 1907 when the National Cement Factory opened and began production.
The Santo Cristo de La Vega Church stands at the heart of parish life and draws residents to Easter processions that fill its surroundings. It remains a spiritual anchor for the neighborhood.
The area is located centrally and well-connected to other neighborhoods, making it relatively easy to reach. Since it contains educational institutions and sports facilities, visiting time can vary depending on your interests.
In 1907, the National Cement Factory began modest production here with about 50 sacks daily, but eventually grew into Cementos La Vega, one of Latin America's leading cement makers. This transformation shows how a small industrial operation became regionally significant.
