Ramolhaus, Mountain hut in Ötztal Alps, Austria.
Ramolhaus is a mountain hut located in the Ötztal Alps at approximately 3000 meters elevation. It provides lodging for around 60 visitors and serves meals to support those hiking and climbing in this high-altitude region.
The hut was built in 1881 by mountain guide Martinus Scheiber as a shelter for alpine climbers. Over the decades it underwent various renovations and expansions to meet the evolving needs of visitors.
The hut prepares meals using ingredients sourced from local producers throughout the Tyrol region. Diners experience food that reflects the tastes and traditions of the surrounding mountain communities.
The hut can be reached via trail 902 from Obergurgl, with the climb taking about 4.5 hours through sections that demand mountaineering skill. A modern cable car system also helps transport backpacks and supplies to lighten the journey.
A freight cable car brings daily supplies to the hut at this extreme elevation. The system also allows visitors to have their backpacks transported rather than carrying them the entire way up.
