Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park

The landscape contains over 200 lakes, numerous streams, and waterfalls spread across 14,119 hectares of protected terrain at elevations between 1,200 and 3,000 meters.

The park received official national park designation on October 21, 1955, becoming the first protected natural area in Catalonia under Spanish conservation laws.

The neighboring Vall de Boí features multiple 11th and 12th-century Romanesque churches, reflecting the region's architectural and religious significance through generations.

Visitors must park their vehicles at designated lots in Espot or Boí, then choose between hiking or taking reserved 4x4 taxis to explore the park's extensive trail network.

The park contains Los Encantados, twin peaks of near-identical shape that rise prominently above Sant Maurici Lake, creating a natural geological formation.
