Forests of Brabant National Park

The protected area features extensive woodlands, wetlands, and heathlands across multiple forest complexes, including Hallerbos, Lembeekbos, and Zoniënwoud within Flemish Brabant.

The region was formerly part of Kolenwoud, a vast forest that covered the area, with current woodlands maintaining 85 percent of the genuine ancient forests in Flanders.

Multiple municipalities collaborate with regional organizations to develop educational programs and initiatives that connect residents with the natural environment of Flemish Brabant.

Visitors can access designated parking areas, marked trails, and information centers throughout the park while participating in activities such as hiking, cycling, and birdwatching.

The park contains over 10,000 monumental trees with circumferences exceeding 300 centimeters, representing centuries of forest growth and ecological preservation.
