National Museum of Roman Art

The National Museum of Roman Art spans 10,380 square meters across multiple levels, displaying over 30,000 Roman artifacts from ancient Emerita Augusta.

Built between 1980 and 1986 by Rafael Moneo, the museum stands on archaeological excavations that revealed Roman aqueducts and early Christian church foundations.

The permanent collection includes Roman sculptures, mosaics, ceramics, and daily tools that demonstrate the sophistication of Roman civilization in Hispania.

The museum welcomes visitors Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 to 18:30 during winter months and extends hours until 20:00 in summer season.

The building incorporates traditional Roman construction methods in its modern design, featuring high brick arches and natural lighting through large windows.
