Church of the Santísima Trinidad del Arrabal

The Church of Santísima Trinidad del Arrabal is a modern religious building standing beside the Roman bridge, featuring a notable apse decorated with paintings by Genaro de No. The structure displays mid-20th century architecture and was designed to serve the neighboring district.

The building was completed in 1952 and replaced the deteriorated Old Church of the Arrabal neighborhood that had fallen into disrepair over decades. Its construction reflected the period of rebuilding and renewal that the city was experiencing.

The Brotherhood of Love and Peace traditionally begins its Holy Thursday procession from this location, with the old city rising behind it. This annual event shows how the church remains woven into local religious observances and community traditions.

The building no longer serves as an active place of worship due to structural repairs needed, with religious services now held at the restored Old Church of Arrabal nearby. Visitors should understand that the church is currently closed and can only be viewed from outside.

Plans are underway to transform this building into a Museum of Sacred Art and Holy Week celebrations after its restoration is complete. This future use would give the structure a new cultural purpose and showcase local religious artworks.
