Serra Grossa de Alicante, Mountain range in Alicante, Spain.

Serra Grossa stretches between the Alicante city center and coastal neighborhoods, rising about 161 meters above the Mediterranean Sea. The mountain massif is crossed by several hiking trails that offer different viewpoints over the city and sea.

During the Spanish Civil War, the mountain served as a strategic location for anti-aircraft defenses protecting Alicante from fascist air raids. The heights provided crucial positions for defending the city from attacks from above.

The mountain paths display inscriptions and drawings carved by Republican soldiers during their defense of Alicante in the late 1930s. These markings remain visible today and tell stories of people who lived through that period.

Hiking trails start from Bishop Victorio Oliver Street, with a main route spanning about 5 kilometers and taking roughly 90 minutes to complete. It is advisable to wear sturdy footwear and bring plenty of water, especially on warmer days.

Beneath the mountain, limestone chambers were carved out for an oil refinery that operated since 1875. These underground facilities represent a surprising chapter in the region's industrial past.
