Parotet, Contemporary steel sculpture in Valencia, Spain.
Parotet is a contemporary steel sculpture at the Plaza de Europa roundabout, standing about 46 meters tall with a blue paint finish. The carbon steel structure weighs roughly 100 tonnes and serves as a visual anchor in the urban landscape.
The sculpture was installed in 2003 to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Bancaja's social work through the Caja de Ahorros Foundation. Its placement marked an important moment in Valencia's art development in the early 2000s.
The work blends natural forms with warrior-like characteristics, reflecting contemporary artistic language. Visitors can observe this combination of organic and geometric shapes directly as they pass by.
The sculpture is located near the City of Arts and Sciences, making it easy to find as a reference point. The roundabout setting gives clear sightlines, and the area is accessible by walking or various transport options.
The work was created by Spanish artist Miquel Navarro, who specializes in large-scale steel sculptures. Its production involved specialized metalworking techniques such as boilermaking, shot peening, and cold zinc plating.
