Playa de San Antonio

Playa de San Antonio is a roughly 70-meter-long beach with white sand shaped like a shell and sheltered by rocky cliffs. The water stays calm and gentle, enclosed by rock walls that frame the shoreline.

Over generations, the beach marked the natural border between the towns of Llanes and Nueva, shaping local maritime activities. This boundary location influenced how the place developed and was used by people.

Fishermen near the beach use traditional methods that support the region's seafood traditions and daily food culture. Their work shapes how the area looks and reveals the connection between the ocean and local life.

To reach the beach, follow a mixed path of sand and stone from Cuevas del Mar beach, which takes about 15 minutes on foot. Parking is available near Cuevas del Mar with space for roughly 50 to 100 vehicles.

At low tide, the beach expands to around 50 meters wide and reveals a small tunnel formation in the side cove. This hidden opening appears because of how water and rock have worked together over time.
