Fuente de los Ilustres, Logroño, Bronze fountain at Gran Via intersection, Logroño, Spain.
The Fuente de los Ilustres is a bronze fountain in central Logrono that arranges eight statues in a circular formation around a central basin. Water continuously flows from the center down over the backs of each figure.
This monument opened in 1999 and was created to honor important people from La Rioja's past. The sculptors Dalmati and Alejandro Narvaiza Rubio worked together to bring this idea to life.
The fountain honors figures who mattered greatly to the people of La Rioja across different periods, including poets, orators, and thinkers. These bronze sculptures represent individuals whose work and ideas shaped the region's identity.
The fountain sits at the intersection of Gran Via and Calle Chile in the middle of Logrono and is open to visitors at any time. You can walk around it freely and view the figures from different angles.
The fountain gained an informal nickname among locals because water pours continuously down the backs of the figures. This name arose after a reader's letter to a local newspaper and has stuck in the city ever since.
