Sioux City Park is a theme park in San Bartolomé de Tirajana on Gran Canaria built to look like a nineteenth century frontier town. The park features buildings such as a saloon, sheriff's office, jail and various shops, animals including horses and bison, and multiple performance stages where shows happen daily.
The park was built in 1971 as a film set and originally served as a location for Western movie productions. Over time it developed into a publicly accessible theme park that today entertains visitors with performances and activities.
The name comes from the Sioux, the Native American people of the North American plains, and the park reproduces a frontier settlement of the American West. Costumed actors stage daily gunfight and horse shows in the street, and the sets recall the Western productions filmed here since 1971.
The park is outdoors so visitors should protect themselves from strong sun exposure and drink plenty of water, especially at midday. There are restaurants and seating areas throughout the park where you can eat and rest, and access by car is straightforward with available parking nearby.
The park houses a museum dedicated to actor Lee Van Cleef with items and photos from Western film productions. Visitors encounter surprising animals like a white alligator from Louisiana and tarantulas that add an unexpected layer to the frontier experience.
