Playa Malibu Palace, Sandy beach in Benalmádena, Spain

This coastal stretch in Benalmádena features light sand and a gently sloping shoreline suitable for swimming and wading. Rows of sunbeds and umbrellas line the beach, while palm trees provide shade along the adjacent promenade. The water is typically calm and clear, protected by offshore breakwaters that reduce wave action.

Benalmádena evolved from a small fishing village into a Costa del Sol destination during the 1960s, when investors constructed hotels and recreational facilities along the coastline. This transformation followed the nationwide tourism initiative under Franco designed to attract foreign visitors to Spain. Within two decades, new infrastructure and apartment complexes reshaped the entire waterfront area.

Coastal restaurants in this area serve fresh fish and seafood often sourced directly from local markets, reflecting the centuries-old connection between Costa del Sol communities and the Mediterranean. Families and tourists have used this stretch of coastline for generations as a gathering place for swimming and socializing under the southern Spanish sun.

The beach opens daily from morning until midnight, with sunbed and umbrella rentals available on site. Several bus routes stop within walking distance, and public parking is located along the main road. Showers, restrooms and beach bars are spaced at regular intervals throughout the area. Peak season runs from June through September, with July and August being the busiest months.

A glass-enclosed indoor space directly on the sand transforms into an evening lounge with music and cocktails, allowing beachgoers to transition seamlessly from daytime swimming to nighttime events without leaving the location. This combination of air-conditioned interior and open terrace is relatively uncommon along the Costa del Sol and attracts both locals and tourists.
