Playa Area Fofa, Rock beach in Panxón, Spain
Playa Area Fofa is a beach combining white sand and rocky formations along the Panxón coast, stretching about 100 meters with a width of roughly 25 meters. It sits facing the Vigo estuary and Baiona bay, where the sand meets scattered rocks and stone outcrops.
This coastal area has been home to Galician fishing settlements for hundreds of years, with communities building their lives around harvesting the sea. The tradition of working the water remains woven into the place itself.
Local fishermen have harvested shellfish from these waters for generations, and you can see people working the rocks at low tide to gather different species. This traditional practice remains a visible part of daily life along the shore.
Access is through a track from Madorra Beach, with parking available near the entrance for several vehicles. Visit during low tide to see the full extent of the rocky formations and tidal pools that appear along the shore.
The beach sits within a Special Conservation Area protected under the European Natura 2000 program, safeguarding native coastal plants and marine life. This protection means visitors share the space with an important natural sanctuary that supports rare species.
