O Portiño, Rock and sand beach in Sayanes, Spain

O Portiño is a north-facing cove in the parish of Sayanes, Vigo, with a sandy bed at the back of a shell formed by Punta Portiño. It measures 100 metres long and 14 metres wide on average, and single-family houses reach the water's edge with direct access to the sand. A small islet near the beach is easy for children to reach.

The beach served historically as a natural shelter for fishing boats, providing protection from open waters. This function shaped the area's role in local maritime life for generations.

The beach is used mainly by residents of the nearby houses, which reach the water's edge and open directly onto the sand. Its name, O Portiño, is also that of the small nucleus from which the signposted path to the beach starts.

Access by road is easy from the Portiño nucleus on the PO-325, following the signposted beach path through the residential development. A small car park serves the cove. Ramps lead down to the sand and showers are available on site.

A large rock formation offshore creates a natural perch where cormorants and seagulls hunt for fish, making it a good spot to observe diving birds in action. This geological feature adds a layer of wildlife interest to a simple beach visit.
