Arc 1950, Alpine ski resort in Bourg Saint Maurice, France
Arc 1950 is a ski village in the French Alps, part of the Les Arcs resort and connected to the wider Paradiski ski area. The village is made up of a cluster of buildings in Savoyard style, arranged compactly on a mountain plateau and housing a mix of hotels and self-catering apartments.
The village was built in the early 2000s with a ski-in-ski-out design that gives every accommodation direct slope access without any walking. It was developed as part of the broader Les Arcs project, which had started in the 1970s, and was planned from the ground up as a purpose-built holiday village.
Arc 1950 is a car-free village where daily life revolves entirely around snow and the mountain, with no separation between lodging and the slopes. Every Thursday, the village hosts live shows that bring together visitors and locals for an evening of music and regional entertainment.
The village is car-free, so everything inside is reachable on foot and no vehicle is needed once you arrive. A short walk through the central lanes is enough to get your bearings and find shops, ski rentals, and restaurants.
Although Arc 1950 is part of a large ski resort, it was designed with a facade style that mimics traditional Savoyard villages, even though every building is entirely new. All the buildings face the same direction, giving every window and terrace an open view toward Mont Blanc.
