Tiszavirág bridge, Pedestrian bridge in Szolnok, Hungary
The Tiszavirág bridge is a 444-meter pedestrian crossing over the Tisza River, distinguished by its leaning arches and cable design patterns. This 5-meter-wide structure serves both walkers and cyclists moving between the two banks.
The foundation stone was placed on August 9, 2009, containing a time capsule with newspapers, CDs, and messages from residents of that era. This symbolic action marked the beginning of the bridge's construction.
The bridge takes its name from the mayfly, an insect that lives in the region and shapes local awareness of nature. Visitors can see this connection to the natural world reflected in how the structure is designed and shaped.
The bridge is wide enough to handle foot and bicycle traffic simultaneously without congestion. Visitors should plan to cross during daylight hours to fully appreciate the cable patterns and arch design.
The structure is illuminated by around 945 lights, including LED-equipped Corinthian columns connected through over 2,600 meters of electrical cabling. At dusk, the bridge transforms into a glowing display that can be seen from the river banks.
