RepTár Aviation Museum, Aviation and military museum in Szolnok, Hungary.
RepTár is an aircraft and military museum in Szolnok with a large outdoor airfield and an indoor exhibition hall filled with planes and helicopters from various periods. It displays reconnaissance aircraft from wartime, transport machines, and modern unmanned drones built in Hungary.
The collection started in 1973 at an aircraft technical college and grew steadily over the decades. In 2016, the museum moved into a former railway station building, which gave it much more space to display its expanded holdings.
The name comes from the Hungarian word 'rep' meaning aircraft. Visitors can see uniforms and equipment on display that reveal how pilots and ground crews dressed and worked during different military periods.
The museum opens Tuesday through Sunday, and visitors should allow time to see both the outdoor aircraft and the indoor exhibition. Food options and rest areas are available on site, along with a playground if traveling with children.
The museum houses the only operational Lisunov Li-2 in the world, a Soviet transport plane from the postwar era. This rare piece of aviation history allows visitors to see and appreciate an aircraft type that exists nowhere else in working condition.
