Museum of Hungarian Aviation, Aviation museum in Szolnok, Hungary.
The Museum of Hungarian Aviation is an aviation and military museum in Szolnok that displays aircraft, helicopters, and technical equipment from several decades of Hungarian flight history. The exhibits are spread across hangars and open-air areas, covering both civil and military machines.
The museum was founded in 1973 from a flight school collection and gradually expanded with military aircraft and historic machines. Some of the exhibits were recovered directly from Second World War battlefields.
The museum displays aircraft and equipment that represent Hungary's aviation history. Visitors see old uniforms and photographs that offer insight into the lives of pilots and technicians.
No prior knowledge is needed to enjoy the exhibits, as everything is presented in a straightforward way. Since part of the collection is outdoors, comfortable shoes are a good idea because the ground can be uneven.
One of the rarest pieces on display is a Lisunov Li-2, a Soviet transport aircraft that is still in working condition, which is very uncommon for a plane of its age. This type of aircraft was once a workhorse of military transport and very few airworthy examples survive today.
