Ramat David, Air base and heritage site in Haifa District, Israel
Ramat David Airbase stands at 56 meters above sea level in eastern Haifa District, functioning as the Israeli Air Force's northern operational base point.
The British Royal Air Force established this military installation in 1942 during World War II, and Israel officially opened it in 1948.
The base received its name in recognition of Ezer Weizman, who commanded the facility from 1953 to 1956 before becoming President of Israel.
The northern location of this military airfield provides rapid access to strategic points across Israel's northern region and the Middle East.
During the 2010 Mount Carmel forest fire, international firefighting aircraft operated from this base to combat the extensive flames.
