Ramat David, Air base and heritage site in Haifa District, Israel

Ramat David is an air base in the eastern part of Haifa District, located 56 meters above sea level. The facility serves as a northern operational point for the Israeli Air Force and combines military infrastructure with commemorative elements from its founding period.

The British Royal Air Force built the base in 1942 during World War II as part of the defense network in the Middle East. After independence, Israel took over the facility in 1948 and expanded it into a major air force location.

The airfield carries its name in honor of a military commander who later held Israel's highest office. The site continues to play a central role in northern defense and remains closed to the general public in daily operations.

The location in the northern part of the country allows quick connection to different areas of the north and beyond. Access to the grounds is normally restricted to authorized personnel only, except during special memorial events or official openings.

During the large forest fires on Mount Carmel in 2010, international firefighting aircraft landed here to combat the flames. The runways became a central hub for international aid during those dramatic days.
