Sheopur district, Administrative division in northern Madhya Pradesh, India

Sheopur district spans 6,606 square kilometers and contains 585 villages, with the Chambal River marking its northern border with Rajasthan state.

The district was established in 1537 by Indra Singh of the Gaur Rajputs and later came under Daulat Rao Scindia rule in 1808.

Local wood carvers produce detailed wooden objects including masks, toys, and flower vases, representing a traditional craft industry in the region.

The district contains three municipalities, four banks, two government postgraduate colleges, and one hospital serving its population of 687,861 residents.

The Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary within the district features sandy terrain, meadows, and woodland areas that support diverse wildlife populations.
