Kaila devi, Hindu temple in Karauli district, Rajasthan, India.
Kaila Devi is a Hindu temple built from white marble in Karauli district, Rajasthan, India. The central shrine houses two large statues representing the goddesses Kaila Devi and Chamunda Devi, set within the Aravali hills near the Kalisil River.
Maharaja Gopal Singh Ji laid the foundation in 1723 and completed construction seven years later. The statue of Chamunda was brought from Gagraun fort and installed in the new temple.
Worshippers bring Chhappan Bhog, a traditional offering of fifty-six items that include sweets, savory snacks, fresh flowers and dried fruits. These gifts are presented before the goddess, honored as a form of Durga, whose protection and favor devotees seek through their prayers.
The temple opens at four in the morning and remains open until half past eight in the evening every day. Gangapur City railway station offers the main connection for travelers arriving by train.
A large water reservoir called Kund stands beside the temple and was built by Arjun Pal Ji. This basin supplied the site with water in earlier times and served pilgrims as a source for ritual washing.
