Kasganj district, Administrative district in Aligarh division, India
Kasganj district is an administrative division in the Aligarh region of Uttar Pradesh with three main administrative subdivisions. These three tehsils—Kasganj, Patiali, and Sahawar—span roughly 2,000 square kilometers of farmland and rural settlements.
This district came into being in 2008 when the former Etah district was divided as part of administrative reorganization in Uttar Pradesh. The split created this new territorial unit to better manage the growing region.
The district sits within the Braj region, where people speak Hindi and Urdu in their daily lives. Local dialects like Brajbhasha and Kannauji shape how communities communicate across villages.
The area connects to larger cities like Agra and Bareilly through State Highway 33, making travel reasonably straightforward. Arriving by road through this route is the most direct way for visitors traveling by vehicle.
Archaeological digs at Atranjikhera reveal ancient settlements from more than 1,000 years ago with metal tools and clay vessels. These discoveries offer a window into early life across the landscape.
