Mahamaya Kalika Devasthan Kasarpal is a Hindu temple located in Kasarpal village in the Indian state of Goa. The structure has a golden spire, a large prayer hall, an inner sanctum, and stone pathways connecting the different areas of the temple grounds.
This temple is linked to 1436, when a Brahmin named Devasharma settled in this area and established what became an enduring community presence in the Konkan region. Over time, the shrine was maintained and gradually expanded by the community.
This temple is a gathering place for the Gomantak Daivadnya Brahmin community, who come here for worship and traditional rituals throughout the year. Visitors can observe devotees bringing flowers, fruits, and incense as offerings during their daily prayers.
The weather in Goa is warm and humid, so it is a good idea to bring water and wear light clothing. As this is an active place of worship, covering clothing is expected, and cameras are not allowed inside the temple.
Inside the temple there is a sculpture around 800 years old that shows the four-armed goddess Kali holding a sword, trident, shield, and ceremonial vessel. This carving dates from the Kadamba period and is one of the oldest objects of its kind in the region.
