Mulund

Mulund sits in the northeastern section of Mumbai, bordered by Sanjay Gandhi National Park and connected to Navi Mumbai through the Mulund-Airoli Bridge. The area contains residential buildings, green spaces like Chintamani Dwarkanath Deshmukh Gardens and Johnson & Johnson Park, and industrial facilities along L.B.S Road.

The area was originally called Muchalind during the Mauryan era before developing into one of Mumbai's first planned residential neighborhoods in the early 1900s. This transformation marked a shift from rural land to organized suburban settlement in the city's eastern expansion.

Multiple communities from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Sindh, and Tamil Nadu live side by side here, gathering at events in the large Kalidas Hall theater. This shared space reflects how different groups have woven themselves into the fabric of daily neighborhood life.

The railway station on the Central Railway line serves as the main transportation hub, connecting to different parts of the city and surrounding areas. Visitors can walk to nearby parks and gardens easily, with regular train service for exploring other districts.

The suburb borders Sanjay Gandhi National Park, one of the largest urban forest reserves, where visitors might spot leopards and langurs in their natural habitat. This proximity to wilderness in the middle of a major city creates a surprising contrast to typical suburban development.
