Padanayarkulangara Mahadeva Temple

Padanayarkulangara Mahadeva Temple is a Hindu temple near the Pallikkal River in Karunagappally that displays traditional Kerala architectural style with a central shrine and supporting structures. The complex is organized around the main sanctuary, with features typical of ancient Kerala temple design.

The area was once part of the Ay dynasty's territory before coming under Odanad rule and then the Travancore kingdom. These shifts in authority marked different periods in the region's history and shaped the way religious centers developed.

A Buddha statue from the 9th century was discovered in nearby Marathurkulangara, showing that the region once held multiple religious traditions side by side. This archaeological find reveals that the area was a meeting point for different spiritual practices across centuries.
