Sri Moolam Thirunal Palace

The Sri Moolam Thirunal Palace is a building located in central Kollam that combines traditional Indian architectural features with grand structural design. The site spans about 1.15 acres and was later converted into a cinema hall that remains operational today.

Construction of the palace began following the establishment of a memorial trust in 1917 and was completed in 1936 after the Maharaja passed away. The building project took place during the era of Travancore rule and reflected the values of that period.

The palace was dedicated to the memory of Maharaja Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma and shows how local people valued their connection to the royal family. Its presence in the city center reflects the importance this ruler held in the lives of Kollam residents.
