The International Hockey Stadium spans 1.86 hectares with a main playing area of 6,570 square feet and practice grounds measuring 2,680 square feet.
Construction of the stadium began in 2005 with an initial budget of 9 crores rupees, and Sports Minister M. Vijayakumar laid the foundation stone on January 20.
During the National Games of 2015, the stadium received the name Dhyan Chand Plaza to honor the achievements of this celebrated Indian hockey player.
The facility contains VIP lounges, medical facilities, media workstations, gymnasiums, and changing rooms to accommodate various sporting events and training sessions.
This stadium stands as the first international hockey venue in Kerala, constructed on former Forest Department land known as Depot Maidan.
