Guindy taluk, Administrative division in Chennai district, India
Guindy taluk is an administrative region in Chennai comprising six neighborhoods: Adyar, Alandur, T. Nagar, Ekkaduthangal, Guindy, and Kotturpuram. Together these areas form a large urban zone with residential districts, markets, parks, and government offices.
This region was established in December 2013 through the merger of two earlier administrative divisions, reflecting Chennai's administrative reorganization efforts. The change created the current boundaries and structure of this taluk.
The area contains temples, mosques, and other religious sites that matter to residents and reflect the different communities here. Schools and colleges shape daily life, making this region a hub for families and students.
This taluk is accessible from multiple bus stops and train stations, making movement between neighborhoods easy. Visitors should note that traffic becomes heavy during rush hours, so early mornings or late afternoons are better for traveling around.
The region contains Guindy Sanctuary, a large nature reserve in the middle of the city with animals and green spaces. Many people visit it to escape the busy streets and see birds and other wildlife in their natural setting.
