Sokolski Monastery, Orthodox monastery in Gabrovo, Bulgaria
The monastery stands in the northern slopes of Stara Planina mountains, along the upper Yantra River, 12 kilometers southeast of Gabrovo.
Founded in 1833 by Archimandrite Joseph Sokolski, the monastery became a military hospital during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878.
The monastery church features frescoes painted in 1862 by Pop Pavel Zograf and his son Nikola from Shipka village.
The monastery maintains a museum displaying relics from the Bulgarian liberation movement and remains active with regular religious services.
Master builder Kolyo Ficheto constructed an eight-spout stone fountain in the monastery courtyard in 1868, now recognized as an architectural monument.
