Shipka Park-Museum, Memorial complex and military museum in Shipka Pass, Bulgaria.
The Shipka Park-Museum features a 31-meter high Monument of Freedom, constructed from granite blocks and crowned with a bronze lion at its entrance.
The site commemorates the battles of 1877-1878 where 7,500 Russian and Bulgarian soldiers defended the pass against 27,000 Turkish troops.
The monument houses a marble sarcophagus containing remains of Russian and Bulgarian soldiers, with seven floors displaying military artifacts and battle flags.
Visitors can reach the monument by climbing 890 steps, accessing multiple exhibition levels that present weapons, medals, photographs, and historical documents.
The monument contains replicas of the Samara Flag, the first battle standard of the Bulgarian Volunteer Corps during the Liberation War.
