Tsuen Wan West station, Underground metro station in Tsuen Wan District, Hong Kong.
Tsuen Wan West station is an underground metro station in Tsuen Wan District, Hong Kong, served by the Tuen Ma Line. It has two parallel tracks with side platforms, and its exits connect directly to bus terminals, shopping areas, and residential blocks nearby.
The station opened in 2003 as the terminus of what was then the West Rail Line, a new railway corridor running through the New Territories. Over the following years, extensions and line mergers gradually integrated it into a broader network, eventually becoming part of the Tuen Ma Line.
The area around the station mixes older street markets with newer residential towers, and the exits drop you right into this contrast. Locals use the station as a daily shortcut between the waterfront and the inland parts of Tsuen Wan.
The station has several exits, so checking the exit map before leaving the platform helps you head in the right direction from the start. Bus connections are available directly at some exits, which makes it easy to continue your journey without backtracking.
Despite its name, the station is not actually located in Tsuen Wan itself but in the adjacent area of Sham Tseng, slightly to the west. This surprises many first-time visitors who expect to arrive in the heart of the district.
