Jiagedaqi District, Administrative district in Heilongjiang Province, China.
Jiagedaqi District is an administrative division in Heilongjiang Province in northeastern China, comprising six subdistricts and two townships. The area covers 1,587 square kilometers at an elevation of about 472 meters.
The area developed as a major logging settlement in its early years, forming the economic foundation of the region. Mining operations later added to the economy and further shaped the growth of the settlement.
The name comes from the Oroqen language and refers to the Mongolian pine trees that grow throughout the area. This choice reflects the deep connection between the place and the indigenous communities who have lived here for generations.
The best way to reach this area is through Daxing'anling Oroqen Airport or China National Highway 111. The Nenjiang-Greater Khingan Forest Railway provides additional connections to the surrounding region.
The district serves as the administrative center for Daxing'anling Prefecture-level region even though it lies geographically outside its boundaries. This unusual arrangement illustrates how administrative divisions can be organized independently of geographic borders.
