Technik Museum Speyer

Technik Museum Speyer is a technology museum that displays thousands of vehicles and machines. The collection is spread across both large outdoor areas and indoor halls, where you can see everything from aircraft to automobiles.

The museum was built around historic industrial buildings, including an old factory hall from 1913 that originally stood in France and was brought to Speyer by German forces. This structure now forms an important part of the museum's infrastructure.

The Wilhelmsbau building houses a collection of mechanical music instruments that showcase the craftsmanship of the music machine industry. Visitors can experience how these instruments actually sound and operate.

The museum is very large, so it's wise to plan for several hours and wear sturdy shoes since you'll be walking a lot. The signage helps with navigation, but visiting on a quieter day provides a better experience without too many other visitors around.

The museum houses a Soviet Buran space shuttle, one of only a few surviving examples of this spacecraft, which arrived after a long journey by ship. This makes it an exceptional location to see Soviet space technology in Europe.
