Domkeller

The Domkeller is a three-story stone building featuring vaulted ceilings and large windows that showcase traditional German architecture from the 17th century. The interior combines period architectural details with contemporary functions as a bar and performance venue.

The building was constructed in 1658 and initially served residential or storage purposes. After World War II, it reopened as a public establishment in 1948 and has functioned as a gathering place in Aachen ever since.

The space draws students and locals who gather here to meet and socialize in a relaxed setting. Weekly concerts featuring performers from around the world have made it an informal meeting place where different communities come together.

The venue sits in Aachen's old town and is easily reached on foot from the cathedral and surrounding streets. Most visitors arrive in the evening or at night when the bar is lively and concerts are held.

The establishment has long served as a student hangout during the day and transforms into a concert venue at night. This dual role makes it a place where different crowds and generations mix at different times of day.
