Kriegsberg Tower

The Kriegsberg Tower rises on Kriegsberg hill and provides a viewing platform with a crenellated parapet and an open hall attached to its base. The structure is built from sandstone and reaches several hundred meters above the surrounding landscape.

The tower was built in 1895 by architect Carl Weigle for the Stuttgart Enhancement Society, aiming to provide panoramic views across the region. It was created as a distinctive landmark for the expanding city of that era.

The tower displays architecture inspired by medieval castles, reflecting how late 19th century Stuttgart valued historical references in its public buildings. This style connects to local building traditions and the materials found in the region.

The tower is reachable by walking from the city center and on clear days offers views extending to the Schurwald forest and into the Rems and Neckar valleys. The platform is most accessible during fair weather conditions.

During the 1980s and 1990s, local residents supported the tower's restoration through donations, working alongside municipal and state authorities. This collaborative effort revealed how much the community values the structure.
