Kaninchenwerder spans 0.37 square kilometers with a maximum length of 1.09 kilometers and reaches its highest point at Jesarberg, 55 meters above sea level.
The island's first documented mention dates to 1407, followed by the construction of a brickyard in 1561, which operated until its demolition in 1853.
The island contains over 269 plant species, including numerous rare specimens listed in Germany's endangered species catalog, making it a protected natural habitat.
The White Fleet operates ferry services to the island from May through September, allowing visitors to access the walking trails and observation tower.
During the Seven Years War in 1759, Mecklenburg General von Zülow used the island as a strategic retreat location for his troops.
