Schleifmühle Schwerin

The Schleifmühle Schwerin is a historic watermill with a working water wheel system that demonstrates how stones were ground and polished using water power. Inside, you will find displays of the tools and machinery that craftspeople needed for their work.

The building was constructed in 1800 and became an important workshop for processing stones for the region's rulers. After more than a century of operation, it was later reopened as a museum to preserve this traditional craft.

The place preserves the craft of stone grinding, which shaped work and trade in this region for generations. You can see the tools and techniques that local craftspeople used to process and polish stones.

The site is easy to reach on weekdays and impressive to see from outside thanks to its old water wheel. It is helpful to wear sturdy shoes, as some areas inside and around the building have uneven ground.
