Schleifmühle Schwerin, Historic watermill and museum in Schwerin, Germany
The Schleifmühle features a functioning water wheel system that demonstrates the traditional process of grinding and polishing stones through water power generation.
Built in 1800 and operating until 1857, the mill processed stones for the princes of Mecklenburg-Schwerin before reopening as a museum in 1985.
The museum preserves and presents the craft of stone processing, displaying the tools and methods used by stone grinders in northern Germany.
The museum welcomes visitors from Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with admission prices of 4 euros for adults and 3 euros for concessions.
The facility houses a collection of minerals including amethyst geodes from South America, quartz crystals, and agate slices available in its shop.
