Altes Palais, Palace at Old Garden, Schwerin, Germany

The Altes Palais features a timber-framed structure with two stories, a hipped roof, and large three-axis mansard gables with dormers.

The palace construction started in 1790 and served as residence for Hereditary Prince Friedrich Ludwig and Helena Pawlowna from 1799 to 1819.

The building forms part of the Schwerin Residence Ensemble, which represents the architectural evolution of ducal residences in northern Germany.

The palace currently functions as the administrative headquarters of the Landtag, located at the intersection of Schlossstrasse and Old Garden.

In 1837, architect Georg Adolf Demmler connected the palace to the neighboring house through an archway, creating an integrated architectural complex.
