Schaudichnichtum Lodge, Cultural heritage monument in Bad Dürkheim, Germany.
Schaudichnichtum Lodge is the ruins of a hunting lodge located southwest of Bad Dürkheim in the Palatinate, with only foundation walls and terrain features remaining today. The remains are scattered across the Palatine Forest and show the former layout of the structure through its distributed foundation traces.
Baron Jakob Tillmann von Hallberg built the hunting lodge around 1730 after obtaining a hunting lease from the Palatinate Electorate. The structure was destroyed in 1793 when French revolutionary forces advanced into the Palatinate during the wars of expansion.
The name came about in the 19th century and follows a naming pattern with neighboring structures like Kehrdichannichts and Murrmirnichtviel in the Palatine Forest. This humorous naming reflects the traditions of forest management and regional life in the area.
The site is located in the forest and is accessible on foot, so sturdy shoes and time for walking are recommended. The remains are accessible year-round, though the ground can become muddy after rain.
A memorial stone marks the location of the former hunting lodge and preserves its story for visitors. The marker and scattered foundation traces help visitors understand how the original building was once arranged.
