Siemenshaus

Siemenshaus, Timber-framed house in Schreiberstraße, Goslar, Germany.

Siemenshaus is a four-story timber-framed building on Schreiberstraße with multiple attic levels and a decorated entrance door. Inside, it contains a courtyard with water supply facilities and various rooms that once served commercial storage and trading purposes.

The building was constructed in 1693 by merchant Hans Siemens, whose descendants later founded the international electronics company Siemens. It was built during a period of great economic prosperity in Goslar, reflecting the wealth of that flourishing era.

The house shows how wealthy merchants combined their business and living spaces under one roof, creating areas for trade and daily life together. This blend of commerce and family life was typical for homes of this era in Goslar.

The building can be visited, though typically only as part of guided city tours or by prior arrangement. Visitors should check beforehand since viewings are not available daily and may be subject to specific conditions.

The building features four separate attic levels that once stored merchant goods, revealing the scale of business operations conducted there. Even more intriguing is an original brewery vault inside, showing the house was also involved in beer production.
